APRIL 15, 2016

Clarification: The Canal Shores Board of Director’s is hosting two public meetings next week.

The first meeting is our regularly scheduled Board meeting on Thursday April 21st at 6:30PM. Board meetings are always open to the public. The objective of this meeting is to conduct regular Board business and hear a presentation by the Canals Shores 100 Master Plan golf course designer and landscape architect, Dave Zinkand.

The second meeting on Friday April 22nd at 6:30PM was added specifically for the benefit of the community. The sole objective of this meeting is to hear a presentation by the Canals Shores 100 Master Plan golf course designer and landscape architect, Dave Zinkand.

The public is invited to attend either meeting.

Both meetings will be held at 1030 Central Street, Evanston, IL 60201.

We apologize for the late notice, any confusion, or inconvenience due to Passover.

As we are very early in our planning process, we want to assure the public that there will be other opportunities to review and provide additional input.

Sincerely,

John Powers
President
Canal Shores Board of Directors

=========

On behalf of the Canal Shores Board of Directors, I would like to invite you to a community meeting on Friday April 22nd at 6:30PM at the American Legion Hall, 1030 Central Street, Evanston IL 60202.

The objective of the meeting is to share information about the Canal Shores 100 Master Plan with the community and solicit your feedback.

We had previously sent out an invitation to our regularly scheduled Board meeting on Thursday the 21st. However, because we have other items on the agenda for that night, like committee reports, we thought it best to hold a separate meeting dedicated solely to presenting the plan and provide the community with enough time to provide their input.

The goals of the Canal Shores 100 Master Plan are to:

  • Provide golf and golf training for today's golfer and develop future golfers;
  • Provide the community with multi use recreational facilities with a focus on families and youth; and
  • Demonstrate best practices in environmental sustainability by maintaining, nurturing and enhancing ecological health and natural habitat of this 40-acre parcel of land along the waterway of the North Shore Channel.

The Canal Shores 100 initiative fulfills the commitment to preserving the viability of the course and assuring that it will flourish and thrive to serve future generations as a unique and valuable recreational space – the gem in our community.

For more information about this initiative, please visit http://www.canalshores.org/canal-shores-100/ where you will find a number of helpful resources including Frequently Asked Questions.

The Board of Directors of Canal Shores is looking forward to hearing your questions and concerns on the 22nd. Mr. Dave Zinkand, a renowned golf course designer and landscape architect, who has been helping the Board develop our Master Plan, will also be on hand to answer any specific questions.

In the meantime, if you have any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me at jpowers@canalshores.org.
